Vita

Bettina Geyer, born 1978 in Freiburg, studied Music and German Literature at the University of Mainz (Germany) and the University of Dijon (France). She was the recipient of the "Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes" scholarship. In 2011 she also finished her studies of "Theatre and Music Management" at the LMU in Munich.

During her studies she worked as a critic for several newspapers whilst volunteering at Staatstheater Darmstadt and other theatres. She also played the bassoon in several orchestras and chamber music ensembles.

After successfully graduating with top marks she was employed as an assistant stage director with Theater Freiburg and Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Scala die Milano and the Berlin State Opera From 2006-present Ms. Geyer was engaged as an assistant stage director for the Salzburger Festspiele. She has collaborated with well-known directors such as Stefan Herheim, Peter Stein, Johan Simons, Claus Guth or Katie Mitchell.

Since 2004, Bettina Geyer has worked regularly as a stage director in opera, theatre and theatre for children as well as teaching workshops for improvisation and scenic studies. Her Repertoire includes chamber operas ("Diary of Anne Frank", Darmstadt 2007) as well as productions of classical operas ("Hänsel and Gretel" Darmstadt 2008 and "The Magic Flute", Darmstadt 2010) and contemporary music theatre (World Premiere of "Magic Mountain" by Gregory Vajda, Davos 2010). In addition to this she dedicated her work to the production of music theatre for children, such as the "Little sweep" by Benjamin Britten or a childrens production of "Magic Flute" for the Easter Festival of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in Baden-Baden 2013. She also wrote and directed scene plays for children such as "Pünktchen and Anton" (2014) or "Little Red Riding Hood" (2015, both for Landestheater Eisenach)

Bettina Geyer is a member of the "Academy Opera Today" by Deutsche Bank Stiftung.
